Color challenge: Perfect Timing

So the challenge is make a card using your favorite colors... some of which are greens (olives, lime), brown, pink (with brown or light blue) and soft corals, blues = the "tropical stuff." And what to my wondering eyes did appear at Stamp Club but a card using two of these colors that I absolutely love, love and will use again and again for many different occasions - thinking OpWriteHome "miss you," anniversary you," birthday, "thinking of you" .... The stamp is a new Stampin' Up watercolor floral, the ink is Stampin' Up olive, which I immediately ordered! I love how the front of the card is torn (I would distress a bit as well) and then the inside cream insert is also stamped.

Measured and remeasured and.... sketch 15

I "think" I got the measurements wrong when I made this card and after busy a.m. at stamp club and then slogging around in 90 deg. heat to get groceries I was too lazy, I admit it, to turn on the computer to see what they were "exactly." So anyway, this is my interpretation of Sketch Challenge No. 15 using craft paper for the base, white Bazill texture for the 4-1/2" strip (doesn't show up too well...) and some Stampin' Up pink grograin ribbon for the other "strip". The rose is from a stamp set I love called Fifth Ave. Floral!

Getting butt in gear to get back to the old routine.. Have an appointment on Monday (Monday is "no no Monday" day i.e. I never plan anything) with the volunteer coordinator at local hospital and it's messin' with my creative schedule... I love Bev's sample cards for this week's OWH challenge and will use it for some Dad's Day cards!

National Scrapbook Day & Other "Stuff"

So last weekend Joanne and I went to an all-day Creative Memories crop and despite all the "girl time" talk, I got 6 layouts done "from scratch" which is good for me but very few compared to some of these ladies there who are "into" CM - 50 pages in an hour???? Did part of a Quick Quotes page kit club package for a trip to Asheville to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. I would never have thought to use khaki as a base color for "love" theme pages but I loved it so much I ordered the extra pages!

National Scrapbook Day was another crop (all day Friday and Saturday a.m.) where I got a double layout done and an ntire 8x8 scrapbook to remember our visit to Charleston for the Tall Ships Festival last summer... thanks, Traci, for binding it for me! Pam made us adorable pins for scrapbook day. And my friend Peggy had a great sale at her store in Fort Mill and a cute make & take from Quick Quotes. Now I have to clean up all this mess that I dropped in the craft room (otherwise referred to by Steve as "the store) yesterday when I finally got home at 5pm!

I met a lady at Southern Scrapbooks yesterday who had done I think 70 cards for OpWriteHome at a crop - wow! My goal is 20 a week minimum.....

"Make Someone's Day" Challenge & Sketch #14

So I took a little bit of artistic libery with Sketch Challenge 14 and left out the big "image" that's supposed to be on the left because my Scenic Route "Liberty" paper had such big stars. I deciced to use this sketch for my 2 "any hero" cards for the "Make Someone's Day Challenge" on Operation Write Home, i.e. make at least 10 "any occasion" cards for troops to send home and 2 "any hero" cards! I had fun (?) putting my first set of Stampin' Up stamps together but more fun trying the "FYI" theme stamps on the any occasion cards!

Back from Blog-cation

Wow! Has it really been almost 3 weeks since I've been here??! We've been on vacation, had a "doctor's appointment" week and just haven't had that lovin' feeling for scrappin' and cards since we got home 10 days ago.. but my craft room's calling and after a day-long crop last Saturday and with an NSD crop at Traci's great store, Scrapbooks & Etc. this Friday and Saturday, I'm ready to go.

So spring has sprung in the yard in about a week's time in early April with pollen everywhere but gorgeous trees! And a stop in Savannah to see my niece and her two ardorable daughters was fun and pure "eye candy." What a lovely old city!!
