15/15 and I'm Done for Today!

We have a "Half and Half" challenge to do 15 "anytime" cards and 15 Mother/Father's Day cards by March 15. I'm going to use a card that I did for the current color challenge for Mother's Day cards next week but I actually "cheated" and did 20 "hello" and "just a note" cards at Scrapbooks and Etc. last Wednesday. Used the "envelope" card design I did for the "stash" challenge (patterned paper and buttons) and did 6 of the cards with some Scenic Route double-side cardstock that was especially appropriate for "guy" cards.
Lots of bad news from Chile today and now waiting to see if Hawaii gets damage.. lots of prayers needed for these folks.

A Tale of Two Cards....

Why does everything "work" when I practice a technique and then doesn't when I finally set out to do the final card? Oh well, I am learning patience when it comes to cards and even though these would probably be really easy for more advanced scrappers/card ladies, the second with the flowers was a grrrrrr for me ;) I chose colors for this Stars & Stamps challenge -- red, yellow, purple and green -- that could be used for birthday cards for adults (including the guys) and for children, "thinking of you" and Mother's Day cards. I especially like the button balloon card (yes, I'm a "button" person) that was scraplifteed from a sketch I found in my "layout" file. I think I'm going to use this one for Mother's Day cards for the 15/15 challenge, using softer colors and flowers instead of balloons and then use this purple/red/yellow palette with diecut ballons for some birthday cards.

Card #1 - White card base, yellow gold paper scraps, Print Works "Love You Mom" stamp, Chalk Box Lipstick ink, Prima silk flowers with embossed flower centers (DCWV cardstock and Stampendous pale lilac embossing powder).

Card #2 - DCWV yellow cardstock, Bazzill red dotted swiss cardstock, jAmerican Crafts ribbon and buttons, DMC white floss for buttons, Inkadinkado "Celebrate!" stamp, Copic Green 17 marker for balloon strings.

Saturday Morning Color Challenge (for me!)

Two hours and a very messy table later I finally finished two cards using the colors I chose for the color challenge on Stars & Stamps.
My inspiration for this challenge was Pike Place Market in Seattle -- the biggest hurdle was picking the colors! The market is a huge color palette but I finally cropped one of my favorite pictures of the flower market, highlighting a bucket of vibrant tulips and spring flowers. I took quite a few pictures on vacation there last year so you might find veggies and other edibles in a future color challenge...hmm. yum... maybe some chocolate too!

Pondering my color challenge....

I'm doing a color challenge for OpWriteHome! I'm pondering pictures from Seattle, Alaska and Biltmore House. Last challenge was pastels so I want to find something that can be used for "guy cards," birthdays.... stay tuned :)
